Traeger® Texas Elite 34 Expert Review
When it comes to pellet grills, I know many people who would rather skip all the sophisticated bells and whistles in favor of a quality grill at a reasonable price. With the Traeger Texas Elite 34, the pellet grill originators do just that, delivering an affordable grill with enough cooking space to feed whoever stops by.
Reasons to Buy
What I've always liked about Traeger is that they produce quality pellet grills that cost under $1,000. A reliable pellet grill that costs $899, the Texas Elite 34 continues in that tradition. Sure, you can find pellet grills with more capability and better performance, but they come at a steeper price. You can also find cheap grills that cost less, but they're usually lower quality. The Traeger Texas Elite 34 is the grill you want if you're looking for a relatively affordable pellet grill that's reliable, easy-to-use, and offers a good amount of cooking space.
What I even more than the price, is the size of the grill you get for that price. At 646 square inches, the Texas Elite 34 is one of the larger pellet smokers in its price range. That cooking space translates into a grill that's wholly capable of handling 6 whole chickens, 24 burgers, or 9 full racks of ribs the Texas Elite 34. I can easily feed family and friends or turn out enough food to comfortably host large gatherings.
Reasons to Keep Shopping
Although it's reliable, the Digital Texas Elite 34's controller is less accurate than the PID controllers on more advanced pellet grills that maintain +/- 5°F. The Texas Elite 34 doesn't include any accessories, whereas the Louisiana Louisiana Grills LG 900 offers the same primary cooking space, a PID controller, meat probe, secondary rack, and direct grilling option for the same price. Also, if affordability is your primary concern, I suggest the Traeger Lil' Tex Elite 22, which is a little smaller but is also less expensive.
