It’s rare to find a grill that is truly unique. However, the Fast Eddy’s PG1000 is a pellet grill like none other. From its stainless steel construction and beefy design to its separate direct and indirect cooking zones, the Fast Eddy’s PG1000 is unlike just about every other pellet grill on the market.

Reasons to Buy

For me, the biggest advantage of the Fast Eddy’s PG1000 is its construction. To put it bluntly, it’s a beast. Made in America by Cookshack, the PG1000 is a heavy-duty pellet grill that makes others look flimsy by comparison. Constructed from double-walled stainless steel, this is one durable pellet grill that locks in heat for year-round cooking. That heat retention also helps with fuel economy, allowing the PG1000 to burn fewer pellets to maintain its heat, even in cold weather.

The PG1000 has a commercial-grade appearance that wouldn’t be out of place in a restaurant kitchen, which is fitting since its precision allows you to easily cook restaurant-quality food. In my opinion, the most attractive feature of any pellet grill is its automation and ease-of-use. That’s not to say, however, that all pellet grills perform the same. While most pellet grills have the ability to hold a set temperature within 20-30°F, the PG1000 Digital Controller can maintain it within a few degrees. With a 25 pound hopper, that means the PG1000 can precisely hold its temperature while smoking for a full day. With that type of consistency and control, I’m all but assured of perfectly cooked food.

Smoke, grill, bake, and roast—by definition, pellet grills are versatile cookers. However, some, like the PG100, have expanded that versatility, incorporating direct grilling options for open-flame cooking. What’s unique about the PG1000 ist, unlike other pellet grills that use a portion of the indirect grilling area for direct grilling, it features two distinct cooking areas. One side is dedicated to open-flame grilling, the other is for smoking and indirect cooking. For even more versatility, the PG100 has another unique feature not found on other grills: a cold smoking drawer.

Reasons to Keep Shopping

A premium pellet grill, the Fast Eddy’s PG1000 comes at a premium price. Yet, although it costs significantly more than the PG500, you really only get the double-walled construction and extra work space. If price is a factor, I’d suggest the Fast Eddy’s PG500, which has the same cooking area and features, or the FireCraft Pellet-Q450, another stainless steel pellet grill with a direct grilling option that costs under $1000. Also, for a high-end grill the PG1000 doesn’t have the refined appearance people prefer for an outdoor kitchen. Nor does it include many high-end features. For a true high-end experience, I’d suggest the Memphis Pro or Memphis Elite pellet grills, both of which use 304 stainless steel and offer high-end features like programmable probes and WiFi control.
